Yesterday in Star news paper FOCUS column page 28 is mention " With food prices rising across the board, there has never been a more pressing need to save money. While it may be impossible to avoid paying more for your grocery bill, you can get more out of your ringgit with a little effort".
Here are a few tips that stated in the FOCUS column.
- Eat at home
- Buy local produce - local produce more cheaper than imported produce
- Bring your own lunch - cook meals to work
- Compare prise - shop for the cheapest prices
- Leave the children at home
- Shop after meals
- Buy whole cuts - meats or fish that have been pre-cut will cost more than buying whole chickens.
- Use powdered milk - this is cheaper than fresh or UHT milk
- Buy a water filter - avoid buying bottled water and invest in a quality water filter at home
- Stick to your shopping list - only buy what you need
- Eat less meat - vegetables cheaper than meat and healthier too
- Cook for more than one meal
- Shop just before closing time - go for mark down price
- Grow your own vegetables
