Save on Food Tips - running from increasing prices of food

Yesterday in Star news paper FOCUS column page 28 is mention " With food prices rising across the board, there has never been a more pressing need to save money. While it may be impossible to avoid paying more for your grocery bill, you can get more out of your ringgit with a little effort".

Here are a few tips that stated in the FOCUS column.
  • Eat at home

  • Buy local produce - local produce more cheaper than imported produce

  • Bring your own lunch - cook meals to work

  • Compare prise - shop for the cheapest prices

  • Leave the children at home

  • Shop after meals

  • Buy whole cuts - meats or fish that have been pre-cut will cost more than buying whole chickens.

  • Use powdered milk - this is cheaper than fresh or UHT milk

  • Buy a water filter - avoid buying bottled water and invest in a quality water filter at home

  • Stick to your shopping list - only buy what you need

  • Eat less meat - vegetables cheaper than meat and healthier too

  • Cook for more than one meal

  • Shop just before closing time - go for mark down price

  • Grow your own vegetables
